Based in Guisborough, Cookfella’s was established in 2012; with this being their 3rd location to open, it is a great place to eat and relax with family and friends. Their vision is to provide the locals of Guisborough and anyone who travels to their stunning venue with the chance to enjoy quality food in a warm atmosphere, all of which is serviced by their staff who are enthusiastic about customer service and ensuring their customers leave more than happy every time. Having spent several years travelling Europe experiencing cafes, bars and restaurants, the owners of Cookfella’s found they fell in love with the continental style of both the food and the aesthetics, design and colours.
When the restaurant was purchased, it was almost an empty shell; there was nothing left in the space, the previous owners removed everything, so Cookfella’s was left needing a company that could provide them with the highest quality refurbishment, with the upholstery needs being very specific to help achieve the exact aesthetic the restaurant owners were searching for. At this point, they contacted Alan Hendersons; having used our company for previous projects, they were already aware of the high quality work that we would produce. Naturally, we were over the moon to be asked to help turn this empty, cold and boring space into a vibrant, warm and cosy restaurant space, one that would be loved by the clients visiting for food and drinks.
What Was The Project Brief?
Having travelled around Europe, the business owners from Cookfella’s knew exactly what design and style they wanted their restaurant to provide their guests; vibrant colours, a range of textured fabrics and designs and an array of seating options. Ultimately something to suit everyone whilst they enjoyed the incredible food and atmosphere. When Cookfella’s contacted us, as we said above, the space had previously been owned by an Indian restaurant; when we saw photos of the layout and how the space was used, we instantly knew this restaurant had so much potential.
Between our team at Alan Hendersons and the team at Cookfella’s, we discussed the colour schemes, fabrics to choose from, and the different range of seating options we could provide; the most significant focus was the idea of being able to have different style seating to suit different clients. The conclusion we reached was; high stools and tables for guests who were looking to enjoy nibbles and cocktails. Which we can confirm are delicious on all fronts, booth seating perfect for families and friends who want to enjoy an intimate meal together and finally, regular table seating for those who need a little more space.
Once we had agreed on the project, including high stools, booth seating and bucket seats, we needed to move on to the colour schemes; as you can see from the finished project images, the restaurant is now a haven of colour and energy; this needed to be reflected in our upholstery. It was a challenge to decide which exact fabrics the upholstery would be finished in; how do you choose when you have so many vibrant colours to work with?
Upholstering The Restaurant Furniture
Once the decision had been made on the fabric material and colours, our team at Alan Henderson could get to work. We loved the chosen materials by Cookfella’s. It was exciting pulling everything together to create the stunning finished project. It might sound strange, but the seating in a restaurant can make or break the atmosphere; if your guests can’t get comfortable, they may not enjoy their time in your restaurant as much as they could, Cookfella’s understood this and chose to let us upholster all their chairs.
Having manufactured and designed restaurant seating such as booths for several years, we were able to make sure that made to measure booths we created for Cookfella’s were second to none in terms of quality and also design. Having discussed the size of the restaurant and the number of covers the business wanted to be able to seat on booting determined the size and shape of the booths we upholstered. Using a stunning crushed velvet we knew these booth seats were going to be incredibly comfy, paired with brown padded leather back anyone sitting on these booths would be there to stay.
One of the most important aspects of this project for our team was to make sure the seating was of the highest quality, industrial almost, we understand how often restaurant and cafe seating can be used on a daily basis, it is important to our team to make sure any upholstery services we provide last as long as possible. All of the seating we created for Cookfella’s was handcrafted and designed to withstand a lot of use over the coming years, we knew how good the food and drinks were so we needed to make sure the furniture would withstand the footfall.
The Finished Project
When we had finished creating and installing all of the furniture, the restaurant was finished using incredible artwork, tiling, paint colours on the walls and the flooring was second to none, pulling it all together we were over the moon with the final project look and so were the owners of Cookfella’s. With amazing feedback from the restaurant owners we were beyond happy with the final results, and take great pride in the way the restaurant looks now.
